The extraordinary and beautiful story of a band of bovine brothers from their life

I have often wondered what would be the bull´s eye view of Pamplona, from their life in the fields where they were born no their destiny in the bullring. Recently, while visiting friends at a bull ranch in Spain, we went out into the fields after lunch with the head shepherd and some of the cowboys, to look at the bulls, as we´d just found out where some of them were to be sent to. As we rode out we found some of the ones we were looking for, and sat in silence for a few minutes and just observed them. They are such magnificent beasts, big and strong, powerful and noble. Beautiful animals. But as we sat there, marvelling at them, I noticed that one bull would not take its eyes off the ranch owner´s horse. They stared at each other, and maybe it was the effects of the lunchtime wine, but I could swear they were talking to each other somehow.

Neure buruari maiz galdetu diot nola ikusten duten zezenek Iruñea, nolakoa den euren bizitza landan eta nola bizi duten euren amaiera, zezen plazan. Orain ez asko lagun batzuk bisitatu nituen, Espainiako ganadutegi betean. Bazkalostean, jabea eta unaiek lagunduta, zezenak ifustera joan ginen eta nora bidaliko zituzten esan ziguten. Zaldi gainean gindoazela, bilatzen ari ginen zezenak aurkitu genituen. Hor gelditu eta, isilean, haiei begira egon ginen minutu batzuk. Animalia apartak dira, handiak eta indartsuak, sendo bezain noble. Animalia ederrak. Baina, han liluratuta ginelarik, konturatu nintzen zezenetako batek tinko begiratzen ziola nagusiaren zaldiari. Batak besteari begirada iltzaturik zion. Agian bazkariaren ondorioz iza zen, baina zin eginen nuke elkarrekin solasean zirela, moduren betean. «Zein da El pulido  deitzen duzuna?» Galdetu zuen jabeak.
